Daimler Trucks North America Announces Pricing For Detroit Diesel BlueTec and Cummins Emissions Technologies to Meet EPA 2010 Standards Wednesday, August 12, 2009
PORTLAND, Ore. - Daimler Trucks North America today announced pricing for meeting EPA2010 standards with its Detroit Diesel(r) BlueTec(tm) or Cummins mid-range engine emissions technologies. Emissions technology surcharges for vehicles equipped with Detroit Diesel DD15 and DD16 big bore engines, as well as the medium bore DD13, will be $9,000 per vehicle. A surcharge of $7,300 will be added to vehicles equipped with the Cummins ISC8.3 engine, and a $6,700 surcharge will be added to the price of vehicles equipped with Cummins ISB6.7 engines. The surcharges reflect costs associated with adding selective catalytic reduction (SCR) which has been proven to significantly improve fuel economy compared to EPA 2007 engines while reducing long-term operating costs and meeting the stringent, near-zero emission standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that take effect January 1, 2010. "SCR is the only emissions technology in decades proven to be as good for business as it is for the environment," said Martin Daum, president and CEO, Daimler Trucks Nor ... More

CASCADIA VS PROSTAR Tuesday, July 01, 2008
Our Summarized Response to International Truck and Engine Corporation’s Advertising Claims INTRODUCTION Recently, International initiated an industry-wide campaign to attempt to convince our customers that their truck is both more aerodynamic and fuel efficient overall. Our response to this claim is summarized below. OUR WIND TUNNEL TESTING AND VALIDATION International claims that our wind tunnel tests are invalid because we do not test a full tractortrailer. However, extensive industry testing and computer modeling has shown that the drag from a trailer’s tail end, or wake, is very similar no matter what tractor is towing the trailer. International itself only tested with a 28-foot trailer, not a 53-foot trailer. If matching the tractor aerodynamics with the trailer’s wake is as important as they claim, how could they legitimately test with such a small trailer? Extensive tests have proven that there is no material effect between tractor aerodynamics and trailer wake. Auto Research Center (ARC) International also questioned the credibility of the Auto Research Center ... More
